Global Grassroots Season Preview: High School Edition ft. Coach Epps
We are starting our Huntsville City, Madison County & Madison City Schools season preview with our area middle and high school coaches. We will be getting the inside scoop from the head coaches on what to expect and look forward to this upcoming season. We also added some fun questions to see what kids keep the coaches on their toes.
Coach Kendrick Epps - Westminister Christian Academy
Ricky: What are your goals for this season?
Coach Epps: To help my players get closer to the Lord!! To worship with my teams @ 10 different churches throughout the city during the season! Win the Area, Win the Region, & make it back to the Final 4, w/ a group of kids with ZERO varsity experience🤣😂‼️. I BELIEVE‼️ It’s way BIGGER than BASKETBALL.
Ricky: Can you tell a difference in your players from last to this year?
Coach Epps: Heck yes! All of these guys were JV guys except 2! So they have all had to grow up fast! We took some spankings this Summer😝, so we’ve had to quickly MATURE!
Ricky: Are there any players that you expect to have a breakout season?
Coach Epps: All of them‼️. They are a group of unknowns, that are going to COMPETE‼️
Ricky: What was your record last year?
Coach Epps: I was the assistant On the team that went 29-4😭Lost in the finals.
Ricky: Who are your key returning players?
Coach Epps: Allum😝
Ricky: Is there a game you think your players are looking forward to with all the social media fun going on?
Coach Epps: Allum😝‼️ They just want to compete! They feel like the have something to prove‼️
Ricky: Is there a player or players you played against last year that stood out to you?
Coach Epps: Sheesh🥶. Jerome Harris @ JP2 can get 50 easy! And the kid is a Genius in the Classroom🎓
Ricky: What player on your team is most likely to make you curse?
Coach Epps: Kendall Epps🤪. Because I only cuss at home‼️. Btw my mama used to CUSS not “curse”! You boujie😂🤣
Ricky: What player on your team would you trust with your pet?
Coach Epps: TJ Carter or Brady Wilson…but they both will still get all up in your shirt on D‼️. Don’t get it twisted 😇😆
Ricky: What player on your team would you trust to coach your kid?
Coach Epps: Allum😇. I have a special group of guys🙏🏾. Church going Boys…I just can’t get them off that darn garbage rap music😆‼️‼️
Ricky: What player would you trust to answer a math question for you to win a million dollars?
Coach Epps: Definitely TJ Carter‼️. I’m on my way to the 🏦 as I call him😆
Ricky: What player is the funniest on the team?
Coach Epps: Collin Wilson😑 hmmmmmm
Ricky: What player would you trust to date your daughter?
Coach Epps: I have 3 boys…I couldn’t imagine😂‼️. But prayerfully I’m coaching & mentoring these young men to LOVE & RESPECT all women! So one day they can be Godly husbands!
